Lately, VV Group announced its biggest poverty alleviation project ever - VV Walnut Deep Processing Project in Luonan County, Shaanxi expected to be completed and put into trial production this October.
It is said that the project stands out among other Jiangsu-Shaanxi poverty alleviation cooperation projects, which highlights walnut deep processing, soybean milk beverage and other product lines and plays a crucial role in extending Luonan’s walnut industry chain, driving development of relevant industries, increasing farmers’ earnings, and strengthening Jiangsu-Shaanxi cooperation. It is also said that the project will fulfill an annual output value of RMB 2.08 billion and profit and tax sum of RMB 150 million upon its completion.

The project is sited at the southern foothill of Qinling Mountains, Luonan County, Shaanxi Province. Luonan is a national-level poverty-stricken county and one of the poverty-stricken counties in the Qinling-Daba Mountains. Due to the lack of mineral resources, weak foundation of industrial enterprises and inconvenient transportation and unprecedented pressure of environmental protection, Luonan relied on agriculture and forestry for years in economy. For a long time, it has weak industrial linkage and few industry chains in spite of its poverty alleviation efforts by developing industries with characteristics.
To turn this unfavorable situation around, Luonan, based on its local resource conditions and basic industry structure, has founded featured industrial parks and drawn needy families to such parks and link them up with different industry chains through many channels, so as to further dig out the “internal drivers” of poverty-stricken areas. Poverty alleviation modes has shifted from “extensive path” to “lean path”, from “donation-based” pattern to “instruction-based” pattern and from “measurement by per capita effects” to “measurement by all effects”. Such shifts, seen as a step towards Luonan's objective of helping all the poverty-stricken villages and counties out of poverty in 2019, have caused real change to Luonan, strengthened its belief in poverty alleviation work, and accelerated its progress of tackling key poverty alleviation problems.
Luonan County, whose walnut output is ranked in the first place nationwide, is known as “Hometown of Walnuts in China” and rated among “top ten best walnut production counties” nationwide. On December 29, 2017, General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine incorporated “Luonan Walnut” into the list of Geographic Indication Products under Protection.

While helping Luonan address key poverty alleviation problems, VV Group has keenly realized walnuts as Luonan’s resources with advantageous characteristics and hereby invested and set up a walnut deep processing project which gives full play to effects of complementary advantages of its powerful food manufacturing and marketing capacity and local advantageous resources. This project can utilize, protect and develop walnut resources to the maximum extent while increasing local farmers’ earnings to fulfill the economic philosophy that “clean waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets” in real means.
